Dear Community
In South Africa, August is National Women’s Month and a wonderful opportunity for us to honour those women upon whose shoulders we stand today.
Have you heard this saying before - “Whose shoulders do you stand on?” It’s origins, ‘dwarfs standing on the shoulders of giants’ is attributed to Bernard of Chatres, who pointed out that “we see more and farther than our predecessors, not because we have keener vision or greater height, but because we are lifted up and borne aloft on their gigantic statures.”
Who are some of the women who have gone before you that you might like to remember?

Are there women in your midst today that are making a difference?
What are some of the ways you might honour them this new month?
Perhaps use this month to:
Read a biography about a female pioneer
Watch a film about women’s movement origins
Volunteer or make a donation to an organisation for women’s education
Post a link about your most-admired woman in history on Facebook
Light a candle in memory of a loved one – a mom, a gran or a special aunt
Take a special woman in your life to tea
Write a letter of honour to someone whom you admire for the work they do
As a woman, spend a day celebrating who you are and your unique story
Take the time to notice women around you
At i4cc we honour the women who have shared their stories of brokenness and courage with us,
who live in hope despite the struggles that have changed their lives and who fight for new narratives every day!
